Manufacturers (like cold steel) generally advise against; but many fight schools report doing so extensively with very little damage to the buckler comparatively. Metal bucklers get dinged up too.

Hi, It’s not entirely clear to me if this Talhoffer is suitable for steel hema sparring. (E.g. sidesword/buckler, messer/buckler).
